Sile Molloy

Hambly & Hambly are excited to play host to the upcoming performance of SILE MOLLOY: a powerful new work by the immensely talented Donegal playwright, producer and performer Maura Logue. Logue continues her focus on forgotten women, interweaving music and narrative to tell the story of Sile Molloy, a servant girl and musician in 1880s Ireland. The basement of Dunbar House, the original servants’ quarters, is the perfect venue for this unique performance of SILE MOLLOY to the North of Ireland; the land league sets the backdrop for the closure of the big houses, emigration, love and adventure culminating in the early recordings of music. An homage to the Irish people, who in hard times chose a life less ordinary. With Maura Logue, Lisa Murphy: whistle, Rory Corbett: banjo, James McNamee: fiddle, Henry Pierce: mandolin, Ralf Thierauf: sound assistance, Alan Cooke: sound recordings, Geraldine McGrath: indispensable player,Niamh Currid: music director, Claire Falconer: co-director. SIILE MOLLOY promises special musical and dramatic delight to an intimate audience. EARLY BOOKING advised to avoid disappointment. The evening includes aperitif, mingling and supper.
