Elizabeth Kinsella
Elizabeth Kinsella is a visual artist based in Sligo, Ireland. Educated in Belfast School of Art at University of Ulster, she holds a BFA hons and MFA in Fine Art. On graduation she received the University of Ulster Spectrum Painting Prize and the Peter Moore’s Foundation Scholarship. She has been the recipient of the Monaghan Open Prize, Arts Council of Ireland awards and Culture Ireland Awards.
Kinsella’s practice is based in drawing, collage, painting, extended painting, bookmaking and most recently large scale lino block printing. She has been a Fine Art lecturer for over 30 years and is Programme Chair for the Fine Art Degree Programmes at Atlantic Technological University, Sligo where she tutors painting, drawing and printmaking. She was shortlisted for the John Richardson French residency award in 2023.
She has a studio at her home in Sligo town and has recently become an empty nester.
Kinsella is a member of NINE Collective, Drawing Box International Collective and Floating world Artists Bookmaking collective. She has shown handmade books independently at the Dublin Art Book Fair and with Floating World with bookmaking exhibitions in Ireland, UK and Japan and shown widely at art book fairs including Leeds and London Artist Book Fairs.
