Wolfgang Buttress
Wolfgang Buttress is an English artist. He creates multi-sensory artworks that draw inspiration from our evolving relationship with the natural world. Buttress explores and interprets scientific discoveries, collaborating with architects, landscape architects, scientists and musicians to create human-centred experiences. Buttress has produced artworks on four continents including Europe, Australia, Japan and the U.S. He is well known for his international, award winning landmark sculptures including RISE in Belfast.
His project The Hive, a collaboration with physicist Dr Martin Bencsik, BDP, Hoare Lea and Simmonds Studio, is currently installed at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London. The project has won over 25 awards including the gold medal for best in show at the 2015 Expo in Milan, where it featured in the UK pavillon.
Currently exhibiting BEES: A Story of Survival Exhibition at World Museums, Liverpool. This is an international touring exhibition where art meets science exploring 120 million years of evolution with 20,000 well know species of bees and showcases Buttress’s visual art, music and sculpture in a interactive pioneering experience.
